What is the Legal age to work?

30 09 2009

I came across a response to the question“What is the legal age to work in California?” This response captures very critical points about our failed economy and the consequences for teens. Investing in education is an absolute MUST! We cannot fail to educate our youth, they are our future!!!  Share this information with every teen you know! I would also recommend that you take a moment and think about how this advise might relate to you. Every individual today has to have some kind of plan for thier life. In these times opportunities are not being handed out to anyone. We have to create our own jobs, schools, and provide for our families through strategic prepartion and agressive action. The quality of your life depends on it.

“in the US it is legal to be gainfully employed in every state at 14 but……………….. with the job market such as it is it will be difficult, the jobs that use to be in the realm of teens and retirees are now being taken by adults trying to support their families. the hours a minor can work legally are limited and it is much easier to hire an adult. businesses such as Publix, Kroger’s, Food Lion, Sonic, Chic-Fil-A, McDonald’s, Winn-Dixie, Krystal’s, Dairy Queen, Burger King along with smaller local businesses that are in the same genre tend to hire those your age. fast-food and grocery stores are willing and able to train new employees but…………………… minors tend to have many issues that effect their ability to work such as tardiness, absenteeism, numerous schedule request, poor work-ethic etcetera. i am not implying you will have those issues but the fact that many your age do makes it more difficult for you to get an opportunity. because of this you must be able to show through words and actions that you are reliable, dependable, punctual, detail oriented, trainable, coachable, punctual, mature and team oriented. you will also need great references since you don’t have work experience. talk to teachers, counselors, clergy, coaches, club sponsors, directors of places you have volunteered or people you have done casual labor for and ask them about giving you a reference. get accurate, current contact information for them and ask them to be ready to get calls for references from potential employers. remember: most businesses are individually owned and operated so it is the owners policy and past experience with minors that will determine if they will hire you. apply everywhere you can, the worse that can happen is they don’t hire you.

I hate cigarettes

12 05 2009

I don’t believe in telling grown people what to do. If you want to run to your death, or speed up the deterioration of your body, by all means run, sprint, hell jump off a bridge. I will however, say this–I plan on enjoying my slow crawl to death breathing fresh air! We’re dying everyday. I’m sure  you can find some scientific research that will break down how the cells in our body disappear every hour or something. The point is, mother nature already perfectly designed how my body will break down, I do my best not to interfere with her process.

With that said, people who smoke those nasty stinky ass cigarettes are interfering with my breathing space. It is very frustrating when the simplicity of walking down the street on a nice sunny day is interrupted by a coughing attacked because you’re forced to inhale someones cigarette smoke.

We all have choices in life. There is no good verse bad, just choices that lead us all down very unique paths.  Lately, I’ve been thinking of my life as an author,or an artist. Everyday I have a picture to paint or a story to tell with every moment I am on this earth. I like this approach to life because I’m forced to think about what kind of story my life is telling to the world aroudn me.  I try to visualize and then carry out my days with peace of mind first, so that I have the ambition to reach each new goal that I’ve set for myself.

I hope that all my cigarette smoking friends and family will plegde to add a day onto thier life and mine by saying…. I will not smoke cigarettes today until each day becomes forever!!

Why are you rushing to get to a red light?! WTF

8 05 2009

That’s the question I wanted to ask the man who cut  me off to speed up to a damn red light!!

This happen to me today and I politely pull up in the lane next to street speed racer and flashed my devilish smile and pointed at the red light to gently remind the poor fella, there’s no need to rush.

There is a lesson in everything. Why should anyone be in a rush for anything? Wherever you need to go or whatever you need to do will be done at the time that’s it’s meant to be done. I don’t believe in rushing. If I’m running late, I accept the fact that I’m late and that I’ll get to my destination at the time that is in perfect order with my day.

So, if you find yourself in a rush, or someone around you trippin’ off running late–tell them this “Take a deep breath and take your time.” You might be rushing to your death.

This thought works for me.

Stupid People Fixer

7 05 2009

Ignorance is the curse of God, Knowledge the wing wherewith we fly to heaven. –Shak.

I’ve found my calling in life. You know, some people live their whole life searching for a purpose. The overwhelming number of self help books popping up in the book stores, life coaches on myspace, endless “motivational” blogs ect. is indicative of the stupid people epidemic that we are facing in society.

My recognition of this tread of stupidity sickness makes me accountable to dedicating my life work to solve this deadly problem. To ignore the problem makes me just another wasted brain in the sea of stupidness. Some may argue that stupidiness is just a part of American culture. Hell, it may even be a part of human nature. In the 21st century world of technology stuidpity is seeping through the radio airwaves, Internet, and television. Ignorance has exisited well before our time and today it is manifested and multiplied in innumerable ways.

Let me be clear, stupidness is not always a bad thing. You know that saying, “ignorance is bliss” ? It’s true. I have had my share of ignorant fun, there is a special kind of freedom that comes along with some forms of innocent  ignorance. We see this type of behavior most often with teenagers.  Unfortunately, there is an overwhelming number of unacceptable incompetent behaviors that lead to  injustice. The ignorant conditions that we must invest in curing have taken over our schools, it writes policies that dictate how we live in our society, it has created the government that operates our society, it kills the human will and self confidence, and  it destroys communities! In order to prevent this epidemic from spreading we must become more informed about how to identify the symptoms and causes.

Here are some of the symptoms that stupid people suffer from:

  • Narrow mindedness
  • Jealousy and envy
  • unjustifiable violence
  • unruly conduct
  • Threats intended to harm or intimate some emotionally, professionally, or physically
  • Slander
  • Lying
  • Gossiping
  • Derogatory written communication–We see this often in American newspapers ex. New York Post New Controversy
  • Racism, Sexism, Classism, Hate-ism
  • Pessimism

This list goes on. I’ll will post a more detailed list of symptoms with specific examples of how each shows up in our communities from day to day. If we are more aware of the illnesses around us our chances of avoiding these symptoms and eventually overcoming them are more likely to transpire.

Let’s all pledge a commitment to conquer the stupid within us and around us.  Freedom and peace of mind for all.
